1. Click on Assignments in the left menu.
2. Click on the assignment you want to assess.
3. Scroll down to the list of Students.
4. Check the student's Work Status; you can only make an assessment if the student has the status Submitted.
- An assignment can have these work statuses:
- Not Started - The student has not opened the assignment yet.
- Started - The student has opened the assignment.
- Submitted - The student has submitted the assignment. Students can no longer write in any documents.
- Returned - Not Complete - Indicates to the student that they have not passed the assignment. This status is visible to the students even if the assessment is not published.
- Submitted - Can Improve - Indicates to the student that they are approved but can achieve a higher result. This status is visible to the students even if the assessment is not published.
5. If the student does not have the Work Status Submitted, you can change this by clicking on the box where the status is indicated and change it to Submitted.
6. When you are assessing your students, you can choose between two different approaches.
- A) You assess one student and you see the student's documents when making your assessment. Click on the Assess button on the student's row - You will see the student's documents, learning goals and/or assessment criteria, and feedback field. The continuation of this guide is based on this option.
- B) You assign the same assessment to one or more students. You do not see the student's documents, but you will see learning goals and assessment criteria and the feedback field. If learning goals and/or assessment criteria are not displayed, it is because they were not added when the assignment was created. Select the checkbox for the students (one or more) you want to assess. Then click the Assess selected button. A window will open where you can assess the student.
If teachers are co-assessing an assignment, the assessments need to be done one after the other and not simultaneously. When one teacher has completed their assessment, the next teacher updates the page and can then make their assessment.
7. You will enter the student's file area. The student's documents are embedded directly on the page. If the student has submitted multiple documents, you can navigate between them in the document list under Files.
8. Click on Assessment to start the assessment.
9. You can assess the student's demonstrated knowledge using the following options. You can choose whether to use all options or just some of them.
- A) Edit document - you can edit the student's document and provide comments on the student's submission.
- B) Learning goals - you can mark the level the student has achieved for each goal.
- C) Assessment criteria - you can mark the level the student has achieved for each assessment criterion.
- D) Feedback on learning goals and assessment criteria - provide overall feedback on the student's submission.
- E) Personal notes - Write notes that only you have access to.
10. Click Save assessment when you have completed your assessment.
11. If you need to assess more students, you can navigate to the next student using the arrows at the top right.
12. Click on the arrow next to the assignment's name when you have completed your assessment(s) to return to the assignment page.
13. In the category Assessment Status, the student will now have the status Assessment started.
14. Different options under Assessment Status:
- A) Assessment started - You have started an assessment that is not published for the student.
- B) Assessment not published - You have completed your assessment, but it is not published for the student.
- C) Assessment published - You have completed your assessment and it is published for the student.
15. To publish an assessment for a student:
- A) Change the status from Assessment started to Assessment published.
- B) If you want to publish all assessments at the same time, you can go to the bottom of the student list and click on Publish assessments. This will publish all completed assessments.
16. If the student needs to continue working on the assignment, change the student's status from Submitted to Submitted - Can Improve.
17. The student will see their assessments if they access the assignment and they will also see the assessment in their Development Overview.
